What To Expect
Class 1
Absolute Beginners for as long as you require. Starting 5 mins after doors open
You will be shown the basic grip, stance, how to lead or follow, shown spinning technique and how to dance the basics with your partner. We teach around 30 basic moves over the weeks, usually 3 or 4 per week. Moves we feel help beginners start to enjoy Jive dancing, and moves which create a great foundation from where they can move onto more complex Intermediate moves.
Class 2
Intermediate Classes Start at 9.15pm & will last around 35 mins, dependant upon complexity of the Intermediate moves & style points, taken from 100’s of Jive, Salsa, Blues, Tango, Swing & Ballroom genres, fused easily into a Modern Jive framework
To help get those legs working we often have a 5 minute warm up class, just prior to the beginners class, with easy to follow foot patters, such as Salsa, Cha Cha or Argentine Tango This is purely fun & helps get the brain into gear!
You do not need to bring a partner as we move people round, usually in lines. We have three reasons for this;
1) It allows you to encounter varying tensions whilst leading or following with different dancers.
2) We find it stops couples (actual partners) arguing as to who’s doing it wrong! Funny but true.
3) It is a proven method for ‘faster learning’ & a great way to make new friends.
